Week 30 - Socializing

Cassie has been crawling backwards and slithering on her tummy for several weeks now. This week, she rocked back and forth on all fours, lifted herself and crawled! She's very quick and while amusing to watch, it is very exhausting keeping up with her!
Interestingly enough, it is not a toy that motivates her to crawl, but everyday items, such as her sippy cup (which she plays with rather than drinks from), jewelry/watches, slippers (our colorful Orla Kiely ones) and toes. She also puts everything in her mouth...which reminds us it's time to baby proof our home!
Apart from smiling to strangers, Cassie is even more social now. She loves delighting grandpa and grandma Wai with "請請" (grasping her hands and moving them up and down). (NOTE: There is a 3 second video but it doesn't seem to show up on my apple device.)

Cassie also loves trying out various outfits and different looks:
Preppy Cassie
Dolled up Cassie
Vanity Fair Cassie
80's Cassie
Cassie has also been talking to us via "ma" and "ba" sounds. Sometimes she even merges them into "mmmmm...ba" or "bamaba". I have a chicken-egg-type conundrum. In several cultures and languages, mother is represented by "ma" sounds (mom, mere, maman, mama... etc) while father is represented by "pa/ba" sounds (dad, pere, baba, papi...etc). So, were these words developed based on an infant's first sounds OR does an infant make these sounds first because they hear these words more often?
